Welcome to Year 7

Congratulations! We are delighted to welcome your child to The Winstanley School and can’t wait to meet them. We hope you and your child are excited about this next step in their education.

To help make the transition as smooth as possible, we will be hosting an Induction Day during the Summer term. This will be a fantastic opportunity for students to experience a day at Winstanley, meet their teachers, and get to know other students.

We are here to support you and your child every step of the way and look forward to an exciting journey together! We will be sending out information packs to parents and carers shortly.

Uniform

There will be a Pop Up Uniform Shop with Just Schoolwear our uniform supplier on during the summer holidays where students will be able to try on items and purchase any items which need to have our logo on. This will be held in school on Wednesday 5th August 10:30 – 12:30.. If you are not able to attend we will have some uniform available on the Induction Evening so that you can get an idea of sizes and order online.

The rest of our uniform can be purchased from local supermarkets and shops such as Asda, Sainsbury’s, M&S, Tesco and Aldi. Please read our guidelines above for the correct uniform before purchasing.

What to Expect in Year 7

Students are allocated a Tutor Group with whom they will have most of their lessons. All Year 7 students will be following the REAL LiFE Curriculum. The Real LiFE Curriculum is a new style of teaching and learning that is based on the latest global educational research and aims to equip our learners with the knowledge, skills and values they will need to thrive in the 21st century. It is designed to make learning relevant and more engaging by bringing topics to life, and by coaching students with the skills they need to take more control of their own learning so that they can really learn to make a positive difference not only to their own lives, but also to the world around them. Students are guided through the learning to ensure they build the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, and receive personalised coaching which enables them to refine and improve their work so that they achieve their personalised goals. *We expect all of our students to be here all of the time – 96% attendance minimum

*We cannot authorise holidays during term time
