School Meals

Here at Winstanley we are committed to promoting healthy eating and providing nutritious meal choices for all students. We believe that working together with families will help children develop healthy eating habits that can last a lifetime.  Our canteen staff provide a wide variety of delicious meals, with vegan and vegetarian options. There is often a themed menu on a Friday which ranges from a Kebab Bar to Chip Shop favourites. For students who prefer a cold lunch there are hand prepared filled baguettes and prepacked wraps and sandwiches. Students can also purchase hot and cold food at breaktime. A sample lunch menu can be seen below.

What is Pupil Premium Funding?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided directly by the government to state-funded schools in England. Its purpose is to help improve educational outcomes, close attainment gaps, and provide extra support and resources for eligible pupils.

How is Eligibility Determined?
Parents do not apply for Pupil Premium funding directly. Instead, the government allocates this funding to our school based on specific national criteria, including:
    • Pupils who are currently registered for targeted Free School Meals (FSM), or who have been registered for FSM in the past six years.
    • Children who are looked after by the local authority or who have previously been in care (e.g., adopted or under a Special Guardianship Order).
    • Children with a parent serving in the regular armed forces (Service Pupil Premium).
How Does Free School Meals Registration Help?
Even if your child does not wish to take a hot meal every day, registering for Free School Meals enables the school to claim this additional government funding, which directly benefits your child’s education and support in school.
