A statement to all within our community

Our values at LiFE are rooted in striving for equity, justice and empowerment for all, both within our community and beyond. The world’s shared fight against Coronavirus has given us a sense of a common goal. In stark contrast has been the tragic killing of George Floyd at the hands of a US police officer, a person who should hold equity in the eyes of the law in highest regard. This brings into sharp focus that our ‘old normal’ was not good enough. To wish merely, to return to this ‘old normal’ would be to fail to recognise the privilege that so many fail to appreciate.

It is important that we all stand shoulder to shoulder with our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic colleagues, students and friends; we must demonstrate solidarity, empathy and equal anger, at the persistence of racism and hatred within our societies. The fight against racism in all its forms is a fight for us all, not just for those for whom it is a daily reality. Our schools are committed to continue to educate, campaign and uphold this ideal to help change our world for the better.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
