Film Studies is a course that runs over three years giving students the opportunity to explore a variety of genres including: crime drama, teen, comedy, action and science fiction.

The course covers films from the 1950s up to modern day, including Rebel Without a Cause and Jojo Rabbit in order to expose students to a wide range of influences and styles.

The aim of this course is to enable students to create a critical and thoughtful response to films. They will learn how to creatively visualise stories that they will have the opportunity to turn into a film.

Each year the films studied might change but the current options are Attack the Block, Juno, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Rebel Without a Cause, Tsotsi and District 9.

For their GCSE grade the students will sit two exams at the end of Year 11.
