Studybugs

We hope you and your families are safe and well. In light of the current Covid school closure we have decided to look at our systems for reporting absence from school and make this as easy for parents and carers as possible. We have therefore decided to work with a company called Studybugs to maintain close contact with our students and their families and enable us to help parents/carers report any absence quickly and efficiently.

We intend to use an app called Studybugs to do this. This will be an additional app to Weduc and is primarily centred on attendance and welfare.

Studybugs is an efficient and secure system for reporting your child’s absence and allows for quick and easy dialogue between yourselves and the school. The main benefit of this system is that it is app based and so users of the app will no longer need to phone into school to report illness.  Studybugs is fully integrated with our school systems and so information is up to date and easy to manage.  The other benefit of Studybugs is that the app works with you to provide up to date and accurate recommendations from Public Health England.

We would like all parents/carers to sign up to either the free Studybugs app, or register on the Studybugs website by the end of the summer term so we are set up for August 2020. Parents/carers can then use this app to tell us if your child is ill and unable to attend school from August 2020.

Top 4 reasons to use Studybugs

  1. It’s integrated with our systems so you don’t need to phone us.
  2. It’s quick and easy to register and use and automatically updates you with information.
  3. You’ll be helping the NHS and other public health organisations improve children’s health and will automatically get advice from Public Health England when your child is to return to school. (https://studybugs.com/about/schools)
  4. With the recent outbreak of COVID-19, we are hoping this new system will also help keep parents/carers informed and up to date with all public health advice and therefore keep our school community safe.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our students back to a safe Winstanley in the near future and feel that this app will be reassuring to parents/carers who have concerns and about both the welfare and health of their children.

If you have any questions regarding Studybugs, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Sawyer (Attendance Manager) or your child’s head of year or Mrs Roberts (assistant Head of School).
